Registration and Payment

  • Q: What is a conference package? Do I have to book it?

    Yes, participation in the MQIC is contingent on booking the Conference Package. It includes the following conference events:

    • Participation in a workshop of your choice (free of charge)
    • Keynote address by John W. Creswell, Ph.D.
    • 5 Spotlight Sessions
    • MAXQDA Best Practice Roundtables
    • Poster Presentation and Awards
    • Eat&Meet in the Foyer
    • Wine&Cheese Reception after the Poster Session
    • Lunch buffets and coffee snacks on all conference days
    • Farewell Café

    One workshop of your choice is included in the Conference Package fee. You can book further workshops of your choice and/or the Special Event for an additional fee.

  • Q: What is the registration deadline for the conference and workshops?

    It is possible to register for the MQIC 2020 up to ten days before the conference. However, the workshops have a limited number of spaces and they are reserved on a first-come-first-serve basis. The earlier you register and complete the payment, the greater selection you will have.
    Please note: Participation in one workshop of the attendee's choice is included in the conference fees (€310.00 EUR regular / €140.00 EUR reduced).

  • Q: Can I pay by bank transfer?

    Yes! We would be happy to receive your payment via bank transfer. Please use the following account information:

  • Q: How do I prove that I am a student?

    Simply send us a scan or photograph of your student ID where your name is clearly visible. If you are applying for the MQIC Funding Program for Young Researchers, please send us a scan or photograph of an official document (signed and/or stamped) on which your status as a PhD student/candidate is clearly visible. You can also have your supervisor write and sign a short letter confirming that you are/will be a PhD student/candidate under their supervision during the time of the conference.

  • Q: Will I get an invoice confirming the payment of registration fees?

    Yes, you will receive an invoice as soon as you register. We would also be happy to send you a confirmation of payment as soon as we have received the payment on our end. Please simply send an e-mail to us at: and let us know.


  • Q: What language will the event be held in?

    The official conference languages are English and German. All of our conference events, like the Keynote Address, Best Practice Roundtables, and Poster Session will be held in English. Several workshops and Spotlight Sessions will also be held in German. Please click here to see an overview of the conference schedule

  • Q: Where will the event take place?

  • Q: Can you write me a letter of invitation for my visa?

    We would be happy to provide you with an official Letter of Invitation for the German embassy or consulate in your country. Please send us an e-mail to: and let us know exactly what information you will need to have in the letter, including, but not limited to:

    • The date and location of your birth:
    • The full name of your university/institution:
    • The address of your university/institution:
    • The address of the embassy where you apply for a visa:

    Furthermore, please provide the following information:

    • When do you need it by?
    • Will you need the original document, or will a scan be sufficient?

  • Q: Does the conference also offer workshops for complete beginners? / I'm interested in MAXQDA but have no experience with the software yet – does it make sense for me to attend MQIC?

    Yes! The MQIC program is designed to appeal to MAXQDA beginners and old pros alike! We offer a variety of workshops, including both starter and master classes. The MQIC is the perfect place to learn more about MAXQDA, but we also focus on providing a platform for knowledge exchange focused around qualitative and mixed methods research. The event is a unique opportunity to network with other MAXQDA users and meet the MAXQDA development team.

  • Q: Will the conference participants receive an official certificate of participation?

    While there is no certificate for participation in the conference overall, we do provide each workshop participant with a certificate for that particular workshop. Participants who are accepted into the Poster Session will also receive certificates for their participation in that event.

  • Q: I'm presenting a poster at the conference. Where could I get it printed in Berlin?

    There are many copy shops in central Berlin, but “Copy Print” is located very close to the conference venue on Ernst-Reuter-Platz 3-5, right by the subway station. Please note that VERBI Software will not take on any poster design or printing responsibilities!

  • Q: Are conference participants eligible for any discounts in the hotels you recommend on the travel page?

    No. Unfortunately, we have not blocked rooms in hotels near the conference, so there is no discount associated with the MQIC 2020. The hotels listed on our website are recommendations based on quality and proximity to the venue.

  • Q: What does the Special Event include?

    The Special Event offers a one-hour tour guided tour in Berlin’s House of the Futures followed by hot dinner with regional and sustainable food in the Restaurant at Futurium. It is an exclusive opportunity to meet international researchers in the atmosphere of the ‚Futures‘ and to make important contacts. Please note that there are a limited number of spaces available in this event. Your registration in the Special Event will be confirmed upon receipt of payment, on a first-come-first-serve basis.
